BIOG

London based singer/songwriter and pianist Chris Dye is currently recording his debut album, 'Skeletons'. Chris discovered at the age of nine that he could play the piano despite never having had lessons. After High School, Chris attended Leeds College of Music for three years. In July 2003, Chris's father passed away. This relationship is documented in opening track ‘Dear Dad’. After selling his father's house, Chris decided to record his first album independently. The album was recorded in several locations across England, including the now closed Townhouse Studios in London.

Chris experiments with several genres on his debut, incorporating classical, jazz, electronica, grunge, folk and pop. One track even features gregorian chant. At the centre is Chris and his piano, and the stark and sometimes brave subject matter. Dark coming of age track 'I Will Be Your Child Tonight' has already caused controversy after a performance at one London venue, while electro pop track 'Marmalade' provides light to some of the darker parts of the album, and 'Aeroplane' is a surprising departure into 1950s Jazz balladry. Elsewhere, Chris covers teenage crushes, homophobic bullying, child abuse and adult relationships with an honesty reminiscent of early Joni Mitchell or Tori Amos.

"Hauntingly introspective" (Attitude Magazine)
